FINDING THE PERFECT OUTDOOR CHRISTMAS DECORATION
The options available to display outdoor Christmas decoration are endless. With a little creativity and some hard work, a unique display can be achieved. Beyond the often over used wreaths and garland, a number of other decorations are available. The use of lights, signs, figurines, and animated displays offer a great deal of flexibility and fun. Additionally, one needs to keep safety in mind as they work with electricity and considerable distances off the ground.
A number of different lights are currently available on the market. These lights offer a great deal of flexibility in outdoor Christmas decoration. Size, color, brightness and effects are all different options available. A number of different formats are available. Strings, nets, and ropes are just a few. Each different type of light is designed for different techniques. Using a combination of different light types offers a great effect.
Signs are a popular feature in many outdoor Christmas decoration displays. Many are used to wish passers-by a happy holiday season or recognize contributors. A sign can give your display a personal touch. These signs can be made of a number of different materials, including wood, lights, wire, or a combination of materials.
Figurines come in a number of different characters. The most common are those found in a nativity scene, angels, snowmen and Santa Claus. Figurines bring a three-dimensional effect to light displays. Figurines are easy to set up and take down. By simply running electricity and securing the figurine, the set up is complete.
One of the newer options in outdoor Christmas decoration displays is the animated display. These are displays often using lights or figurines that move. Often, lights will be used to make an outline of a character in a number of different poses. The lights will blink on and off as the character appears to move, but in all reality, a different pose is lighting up each time. Figurines generally use small motors to move an arm, leg, or head of the character in order to show motion. Children get much delight out of animated displays. Although they often take more time to set up, animated displays are worth it.
Lastly, safety is important to keep in mind while creating and setting up your outdoor Christmas decoration. Electricity must be used with care, as to not create a fire hazard. Extension cords should not be strung across walkways. When working on ladders and rooftops, extra caution should be used as to not fall. With a little care and a great deal of creativity, your outdoor Christmas decoration display will bring great joy to your family and passers-by.
